Consul-General Ms. Dong Zhihua attended a fund-raising Concert for Austrailan bushfire disaster relief on 27 January 2020 at Chung Wah Cultural Centre, together with Mr. Chen Ting, President of WA Chung Wah Association, Mr. Shane Love MLA, the State Member for Moore, as well as leaders from associations of the WA Chinese community. Singers of Chinese origin presented stunning performances of classic Chinese and foreign songs. Mr. LIN Xiangpei, a widely respected senior leader in the Chinese community, played traditional Chinese musical instrument Erhu.
Consul-General Dong expressed heartfelt sympathy to those who lost their loved ones and whose lives affected. She reiterated that the Chinese Consulate General highly appreciated and supported the fund-raising efforts of the WA Chinese Community and the Chinese business community.
Many people present donated on the spot. The big turnout of the WA Chinese community in spite of the Coronavirus warnings again demonstrated the Chinese tradition of helping each other amid difficult times.
