Consul General Dong Zhihua Met with Minister for Education and Training of Western Australia

On July 9th, Consul General Dong Zhihua met with Hon.Sue Ellery MLC, Minister for Education and Training of Western Australia at the Dumas House.

Minister Ellery welcomed Madam Dong as newly appointed Chinese Consul General and pointed out that WA government attaches great importance to WA-China relationship with Hon. Premier Mark McGowan taking initiatives to urge the Federal government to value and develop Australia-China relationship. WA has been closely cooperating with China in education and considers China as its critical international market. To further the collaboration, WA government has launched International Education Strategy and passed new plans to enhance the accessibility of WA schools and universities to Chinese students.

Consul General Dong appreciated the efforts made by WA government in actively promoting China-WA friendship and pragmatic cooperation. She pointed out that this year marks the 70th Anniversary of the Founding of the People's Republic of China and there will be a series of celebrations co-hosted by China and WA, which will help lift bilateral relation to a new stage. She thanked the WA government for constantly facilitating Chinese Students to pursue their education in WA and stressed that Chinese has become the most spoken language in WA besides English. Chinese Consulate General in Perth will enhance cooperation with WA government and all walks of life in WA to promote Chinese language education as well as cultural exchanges and people-to-people bonds.

Deputy Consul General Madam Jin Qian, Consul Xu Bin attended the meeting.
